In web site development Content is King. Forget about a nice web site design, for now. If you want to become a webmaster of a successful web site you need to be able to generate lots of good content.
Good content ensures that your visitors to the web site come back again and again. Good content means that other webmasters will link to you because they believe that their visitors will appreciate visiting your web site. And lots of good content means lots of good web pages, and that means lots of visitors from search engines. In web site development content is really the King!
How to choose the topic of your web site.
Your choice of topic for your web site will, of course, depend on your goals. Do you want to make money or are you just interested in getting a message across? Whatever the reason for you creating a web presence, if you cannot create enough content for your web site in your chosen topic, you won't be able to attract enough visitors. And if you cannot get enough visitors, you won't reach your goals.
Although there are a few successful small web sites, the consensus amongst webmasters is that in order to become successful in attraction visitors from the major search engines you need to be able to create at least 100 web pages or more. As you can see, I still have a long way to go with this web site before I reach a hundred pages. But I have chosen a topic, which I know enough about to create even more web pages than that in the long run.

While you should update your site regularly, you should be careful in choosing what content you are going to provide, so that your job of keeping your site up to date does not become a full time job. If you are writing about the latest digital camera's you are gong to have a lot more work, than when you are writing about web site design!
